As featured on ITV Wales, EMWWAA 2023 Lifetime Achievement Award Winner, Women in Business 2021 Diversity & Inclusion Award winner and 2022 Speaker Award winner, Bernie Davies, is the Creator of the Your Way Empowerment Series, a TEDx Speaker, Bestselling Author, Diversity and Entrepreneurship Leader, with a previous outstanding legal career in property, of over 21 years. Bernie is Past Chair of the Neath Chamber of Trade, Board member for Black History Wales and Fio Arts Charity, Ambassador for the Commonwealth Entrepreneurs Club, Business Wales and Equal Power Equal Voice Mentor, Welsh Government Excelerator Coach and Founder of Bernie Davies Global. Bernie supports entrepreneurship programmes with a focus on diversity, for major banks, universities and government agencies.
On United Nations Human Rights Day, 2022, Bernie was awarded the prestigious Title of Ambassador for Peace by the Universal Peace Federation at their headquarters, Lancaster Gate London for her work in Diversity Equity and Inclusion.
In the same month Bernie was given the historical appointment as the first Black woman to be invited onto the Advisory Panel of the Public Services Ombudsman for Wales as an Independent member. This Body oversees the performance of all public services in Wales, including the NHS, Welsh Government an Social Care Wales.
Top 100 Businesswoman in Wales 2017, Swansea Black Icon 2018 and Excellence in Business 2017 Award winner (presented at the Welsh Sennedd); who for 8 years, owned and operated the number I Caribbean Restaurants in Wales 2019 and Top 100 Restaurant in Wales 2018; Bernie mentors and Coaches businesses globally.
Bernie has been and continues to be a regular BBC Radio Wales Contributor and BBC and ITV media expert.
Bernie is passionate about inclusion and has been privileged to share her thought leadership with audiences at the United Nations, The House of Lords, London Excel Arena, the Royal Society London, global and national universities and institutions of higher learning; her famous mantra being, "We go together, or not at all."
Bernie shared why she created Mastering Diversity and Inclusion Conferences Wales, why she wrote the book, how she handpicked the DEI Speakers and what the plans are for effecting change after the event.

We are honoured to have the Honourable First Minister open our event. The Welsh Government has a very strong Diversity and Inclusion Agenda and this is supported by several initiatives. As a result, this Mastering Diversity Conference has received full Welsh government support.
In the First Minister's own words, "My vision for Cardiff West is rooted in my political beliefs about the creation of a society in which prosperity is created and shared, in which opportunity is fairly distributed and where poverty is an enemy to be abolished."

Jane Elizabeth Hutt CBE is a Welsh Labour Party politician serving as Welsh Government Chief Whip since 2023 and Minister for Social Justice since 2021. She has served as the Member of the Senedd for the Vale of Glamorgan since 1999.
The Honourable Minister will address us on the Anti-Racism Action Plan and the Welsh Government's Diversity Equity and Inclusion Agenda.
Having taken up duties as the Public Services Ombudsman for Wales on 1 April 2022, Michelle was previously Managing Director of Blaenau Gwent County Borough Council. Prior to that she worked for Highland Council in Scotland, for 10 years, where she held the position of Monitoring Officer and Deputy Chief Executive. Before moving to Scotland she held senior roles in a number of local authorities in Wales.
Michelle is originally from Pembrokeshire and recently moved back to the County. She studied at Cardiff University, Cranfield Institute and the University of Glamorgan and has an MSc. in Marketing and an MBA.
Michelle will be sharing how Public Services Ombudsman for Wales work at Mastering Diversity and will be among the first DEI Speakers in the morning session of the Conference.
The Minister is fully supportive of the event and is unable to attend in person. He will be addressing the event online via a pre-recorded Address. This will be aired in the afternoon session at a soon to be announced time.
With over 20 years’ experience in international banking, Gus has a breadth of experience within the industry.
He specialises in governance and strategy with a keen interest in helping businesses to grow and supporting the economic development of the region.
He has vast previous experience, having held positions in Tokyo, Hong Kong, New York and London setting up new business divisions and holding COO positions in Equities, Prime Brokerage, Derivatives, Structured Finance and Regulatory Relations.

Shazia is a child of Pakistani Immigrants from humble beginnings Shazia is one of 4 siblings growing up in an underprivileged area of Yorkshire. Shazia struggled to read and write in school and was labelled as “not very bright” by teachers in school. Despite the undiagnosed neurodiverse conditions until the age of 34. Shazia was educated at Goldsmith College London with a degree in media and communication. Shazia's career is predominantly in the technology recruitment industry and corporate banking.
Having discovered her condition later on in life, Shazia is an advocate for educating and training teachers to spot Neurodiverse conditions in children at an early stage so that children can be given the correct support to maximise their potential in life. Shazia is currently lobbying parliament on this matter.
In 2023 Shazia was also successful in participating in the TV show "the Apprentice" with Lord Allan Sugar. The first ever candidate to champion neurodiversity, affirming that her neurodiversity is her super power and launching her second business, Gourmet Mithai, Indian Fusion Desserts.

Meena Upadhyaya OBE PhD FRCPath FLSW is an Emerita Professor of Medical Genetics at Cardiff University, an honorary Professor of Practice at the UWTDS, an honorary Professor of Genetics at Kochi, India, a visiting Professor at Ganga Ram Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research in Delhi and an international advisor for the organisation of rare diseases, India.

I have established a charity SSAMAC in 2011 specifically for children with rare conditions of weak immune system MBL and I have other activities within civil societies in London which are too long to mention now.
Children must have the best possible start in life.
By myself I can’t achieve this we need all to get unite and support this Nobel cause which I’m happy that so many humanitarians & big organisation established.

Rob Edwards is CEO of the NEA, the Neurodiversity & Entrepreneurship Association. The NEA provides a meeting place for all those with an interest in neurodiversity and entrepreneurship, creating a safe and nurturing environment for neurodivergent entrepreneurs to get the help and support they need to start their own businesses, and get ongoing support to keep them up-and-running and earning them an income.
Rob is a neurodivergent entrepreneur, and has worked with membership groups, academics and businesses for over twenty years, holding senior roles in academic publishing before becoming self-employed in 2014. He advises about marketing, events, business development and board strategy, and has also been an Associate Lecturer in creativity and innovation.
Georgios is an Innovation Incubator, Academic, and Documentary Filmmaker with a steadfast commitment to Ethical Technology and AI Ethics His work, widely recognised with 9 international awards for transformational leadership and disruptive innovation, spans consulting for businesses and governments to enhance organisational performance, crisis management, and process innovation. Georgios is dedicated to pioneering a transformative shift towards an equitable society in Wales. He brings his experience in digital democracy, open innovation, and ethical technologies to support upward mobility for all, focusing on eliminating disparities and fostering an inclusive environment of growth and innovation. He resides as a Swansea University lecturer and as the Head of the Media Innovation Lab, focusing his research on AI Ethics and Governance, Digital Cultures, and Surveillance Capitalism, aiming to address online disinformation and promote media literacy. He is committed to empowering individuals, promoting economic activity through innovation, and building a future where equal opportunity, growth, and inclusivity are a reality for everyone.
Dee is Brand Partnership Manager for Pink News and has a wealth of experience both professionally and personally within the ED&I arena. Dee was previously the head of commercial, brand and marketing for a group of inclusion companies and charities. Her previous role, with Reach PLC, has seen her create the 1st ever Welsh Diversity & Inclusion awards which recognised individuals, groups and initiatives which are making a positive social impact across Wales.
Dee also gives up much of her personal time to the LGBTQ+ community, she runs a support group for parents of transgender children and also is on the committee as the sponsorship manager for Pride Cymru (Wales' largest Pride event). In 2022 she has already personally raised over £106,000 for the Cardiff Pride event

Dr. Amo Raju OBE DL has dedicated his life to championing equality and empowering the disabled community. As the Award-Winning CEO of Disability Direct, the largest user-led disability group in the Midlands, Amo’s impact has been transformative.
His influence extends even further through his powerful semi-biographical book, "Walk Like a Man: From Limited to Limitless." This inspiring narrative has become a source of strength and motivation for disabled individuals.
A Ted X Speaker, his dedication to promoting diversity and inclusivity has earned him further recognition with a well-deserved nomination as a finalist for the 'Lifetime Achiever' category at the National Diversity Awards.
Amo's passion for empowering others led him to launch the Blue Sky Social Care Card. Creative, organised, resourceful and enthusiastic, Lesley as a neurodiverse young woman, who has been key to transforming Welsh ICE’s outreach work and has played a key role in building strong partnerships with a range of organisations, from youth and social enterprise services to local councils and the Welsh Government.
Prior to joining Welsh ICE, Lesley ran her own business internationally exporting hand-made teddy bears, giving her valuable insight into what support small business owners need to start and grow. She was also a Big Ideas Wales Young Ambassador and Role Model, as well as a board member for the Women’s Enterprise Hub.
Lesley has been recognised for her outstanding contribution to equality, was a finalist in the Gender Equality Champion category at the Chwarae Teg, Womenspire Awards 2021, and has also been recognised in the WalesOnline 35 Under 35 top young business and professional women in Wales list.
Sally is a practicing Common Law Barrister specialising in Public Law with an emphasis on vulnerability and also in Employment Law. In preparing and conducting cases she has a reputation for being thorough, with a particular eye for detail. Sally also Lectures extensively. Delivering seminars and lectures as part of the CPD program to solicitors as well as speaking as Keynote Speaker and Visiting Lecturer at various Universities including University of Manchester and Manchester Metropolitan University Bar Professional Training Course and Salford University. She has tutored for various private organisations including Kaplan Altior, Delivering high quality training to Solicitors and trainee solicitors and Barristers. Sally is an (ATC) Advocacy Training Counsel approved trainer for Middle Temple and the Northern Circuit. Highlighting her Excellence in advocacy.
Alys Carlton is an adviser and coach, a recovering lawyer and was recently appointed as the Independent Chair of the Board of the Football Association of Wales. Alys runs her own business consultancy providing trusted partner services to senior leaders which she set up following a 20-year legal career, including 12 years at a Magic Circle firm in London and Milan, and 5 years as a corporate partner at Capital Law.
